Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need teaching experience?+

No. What we’re really looking for is solid, current experience in print, packaging or a related technical trade. If you’ve trained a new starter on a press, talked a colleague through a fault, or written down how a process should work, you’ve already been teaching — just without the job title. We’ll handle the rest.

Do I need a teaching qualification?+

Not to apply. Most of our tutors join us without one and work towards it while employed — typically a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, and an assessor qualification such as the Level 3 CAVA. We fund the qualifications and build the study time into your role, so you’re not paying for them or fitting them around evenings and weekends.

What support and training will I receive?+

You’ll start with a structured induction covering apprenticeship standards, our systems and how assessment works, then shadow an experienced tutor before taking on your own caseload. After that you’ll have a named line manager, regular one-to-ones, observations with developmental feedback, and access to our standardisation meetings and CPD programme. Nobody is left to work it out alone.

Where are opportunities available?+

We deliver to employers right across the UK, so opportunities come up nationwide — with the heaviest concentration where the print and packaging sector clusters. Even if there’s nothing live in your area today, get in touch — we keep details on file and contact you as soon as something opens up near you.

How much travel is involved?+

It varies by patch. Tutor roles are field-based, so expect regular visits to employer sites within your region, usually planned into a predictable weekly pattern rather than booked ad hoc. A good share of teaching, reviews and marking is done remotely from home. Business mileage and travel costs are reimbursed.

Can I work part time?+

Yes. We offer full-time, part-time and flexible arrangements, and we’re happy to talk about reduced hours or a phased move out of a production role. Caseloads are sized to your contracted hours. Tell us what you’re looking for and we’ll be straight with you about what we can accommodate.
